Biden national security adviser meets with Zelensky in Kyiv

YEREVAN, MARCH 21, ARMENPRESS. US president Joe Biden’s national security adviser Jake Sullivan traveled to Kyiv on Wednesday to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the Hill reports.

Sullivan took the secret trip “to reaffirm the United States’ unwavering commitment to Ukraine in its self-defense against Russia’s brutal invasion,” National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson said in a statement.

Sullivan and Zelensky discussed “the multiple lines of U.S. support to Ukraine” and the need for Congress to pass more aid to Ukraine.

According to the Washington Post, Kyiv is facing chronic shortages of ammunition and soldiers as House lawmakers in the United States weigh a Senate aid package that includes $60 billion for Ukraine.

“You should believe in the United States,” Sullivan told reporters in a briefing at Ukraine’s presidential office in Kyiv. “We are confident we will get this done. We will get this aid to Ukraine.”
