Another ethnic Talysh wants to relocate to Armenia citing severe human rights violations in
Azerbaijan

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 20, ARMENPRESS. Azerbaijani citizen Eldaniz Guliyev, an ethnic Talysh from the predominantly Talysh populated Lerik region of Azerbaijan, announced his intentions on relocating to Armenia, blogger Azar Kazimov said, Talishinfo reports.

Guliyev posted an announcement on his Facebook page addressed to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. In the announcement, Guliyev tells how the head of the Lerik district’s executive authority forcibly took away his property. This was followed by Guliyev being summoned to the police department and threatened to avoid complaining.

The desperate Guliyev announced that under these circumstances the only way out for him is moving to Armenia, because, in his words, no one will take into consideration his complaints in Azerbaijan.

Earlier on February 11, the ministry of foreign affairs of Armenia announced that Azerbaijani Shahin Mirzoyev, member of the Talysh Culture Council, correspondent of Tolyshi Sado  newspaper, requested temporary asylum in Armenia. Mirzoyev said he was forced to escape from Azerbaijan due to repressions and severe human rights violations of ethnic and religious minorities in Azerbaijan. Armenian authorities granted Mirzoyev temporary asylum.
